The Production Profile

A run is read through its production profile. The oil rate holds a plateau while the facilities are full, then declines as the reservoir depletes.

Water Cut and Cumulative

The water cut climbs once injected or aquifer water breaks through, and the cumulative oil, the integral of the rate, bends over toward the ultimate recovery.

The Economic Limit

The field is abandoned when the rising water cut or the falling rate crosses the economic limit. It is the economics, not the reservoir running dry, that usually ends production, and the matched model is judged by how well these curves track the field's measured history.
